Travel bookings show a sharp increase in trips to small towns, cabins and places with famously nothing to do. Operators say guests are asking for no Wi-Fi, no itinerary and no group activities, and are willing to pay more for it. The trend is strongest among people in their thirties and forties who describe their normal lives as permanently over-stimulated.
A hospitality survey of thousands of hotels found that towels and robes have been overtaken by a far stranger item: batteries from the TV remote.
